The Event

This page was used to give you updates on our planning and progress during the basketball game. Our goal is $27,000. We started the fund raising portion of this event on May 16, 2008.

Game was open to the public!

We have passed our goal but are still accepting donations.  We have a "dream" goal of $1000 per hour totaling $77,000.

Rules of the game:
    1.  5 minute rest after 60 minutes of continuous play (may be carried over)
    2.  Players cannot leave the building after play has started.
    3.  Players are allowed six fouls per two hour period
    4.  Players cannot change teams
    5.  Must have 5 players per team playing at all times

Gunniess Requirements:
    1.  Someone from the medical profession must be present at all times watching the game.
    2.  Gym has to be open to public at all times
    3.  Two independent witnesses must be present at all times.


May 31, 2008 -- The teams have been decided. It will be The PAST vs The PRESENT!
The red team will be the past students of HLHS and the two HLHS wrestlers vs the white team which will be the some of the current members of the HLHS basketball team.

7/4 4 p.m. -- Just finished our first 2 hours. Going well!!!!
7/4 8:39 p.m. -- Still playing and the guys are still having FUN!!!
7/5 4:32 a.m. -- Still playing. Several boys were not able to get to sleep so we have some very tired boys but they are still determined to continue.
7/5 10:39 a.m. -- Still playing!! Tired but they seem to be determined to continue. I am PROUD of them but a little concerned about their health. We are currently rotating each hour and may take our whole accumulated rest time some time late tonight. We have been accruing the time and have not used any of the allowed 5 minutes per 60 minutes of play yet.
7/5 2:00 p.m. -- We just COMPLETED our FIRST 24 hours!!!!!!!!!! Please continue to pray for our players!
7/5 4:51 p.m. -- We have PASSED our goal of $27,000 by receiving at this moment $27,007!!!
7/5 4:51 p.m. -- The boys seem to have a new energy that is carrying them through their basketbll game! Things seem to be going very well right now.
7/5 11:41 p.m. -- We are currently at 33 hours and 41 minutes of basketball played! The players have seemed to catch and third wind and are playing very energetic. They are showing their true colors and are determined to achieve the #2 goal of this project by setting the Guinness World Record!
7/5 5:50 a.m. -- It is a BEAUTIFUL day.....but do not ask the boys :) They are having a hard time waking up BUT we are OVER half way there!!!!
7/6 2:52 p.m. -- This morning was tough. Alot of soreness and sleepy boys. But an hour ago the boys got another surge and have a new desire to play the game. They are smiling and running and having FUN!! Many spectators are here cheering them on!! Come and join in on the fun!
7/7 11:50 a.m. -- WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT. The boys are running up and down the court and SMILING!!!!!
7/7 7:07:07 p.m. -- WE DID IT!!!!! The boys were awesome and put on a fantastic show to the people that attended for the last 37 minutes! The 37 minute game ended in a 76 - 76 TIE!!! Play finished and the celebration began after the team met in center court for their closing prayer. More to come later. I am going to go to SLEEP!!
